A second $3m special prize goes to another perennial Nobel candidate, Stephen Hawking, for, among other things, his prediction that despite black holes' ability to gobble up everything that comes close enough, including light, the laws of quantum mechanics imply that they must also emit energy.

 It makes me wonder if this explains the perennial problems with IT systems, outsourcing and so on; regardless of their efficacy, they feed the self-serving echelon.
