When you think of Peter O'Toole, you may think first of Lawrence of ArabiaLion in Winter or My Favorite Year. O'Toole garnered Oscar nominations for his role in each of those films plus several others. Now his voice-acting is getting the same accolades — he's winning raves as the nasty food critic in Pixar's Ratatouille. O'Toole has the dubious distinction of having been nominated for more Oscars without winning (8) than any other actor. In 2003, the Academy recognized him with a lifetime achievement award. 終生成就獎Today is O'Toole's 75th birthday.


The German news magazine Stern awarded a lifetime achievement award to the 87-year-old literary critic at its annual gala event held for some 1,200 prominent guests at the Hamburg Schauspielhaus theatre on Friday.

MOSCOW--Film director Takeshi Kitano won a lifetime achievement award at the Moscow International Film Festival that opened Thursday for his contribution to movies. Kitano, 61, is also known as comedian Beat Takeshi.(IHT/Asahi: June 21,2008)
