A pannier /ˈpæniər/ is a basket, bag, box, or similar container, carried in pairs either slung over the back of a beast of burden, or attached to the sides of a bicycle or motorcycle. The term derives from the Old French, from Classical Latin, word for bread basket.[1]

As summer begins, Germans claim their personal patch of nature

As the weather warms up, everyone wants to get outdoors. In Germany, permanent camp sites and community gardens are an ideal alternative for serious nature lovers on a budget.

In the town of Dormagen, not far from the Rhine River, Martin Poniewas has a unique home of his own, as a permanent camper. For him, camping is more than just bonfires and tents. He owns his very own trailer - equipped with nearly all the features and gadgets of a normal house.

When Movies Don’t Live Up to the Trailer
By DAVID POGUE
I can’t tell you how much I love the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com). I love The Times’s movie reviews too, but I don’t always agree with them. The wisdom of the masses on IMDB -- thousands of people’s collective grade for a movie on a 1-to-10 scale -- very rarely misses.
