German, Czech police teamwork to stop hooligans

German authorities will intensify their border controls between Bavaria and the Czech Republic to stop Czech football hooligans making the trip to Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier match in Munich.

Regensburg police said that the authorities are working closely with their Czech counterparts just as they did successfully around the team's first meeting in March in Prague. Czech police will be present at the match to help identify hooligans and known offenders will be denied entry into Germany.

Germany are already through to the Euro 2008 finals next year, with the Czechs chasing the second qualifying spot. Czech fans have a reputation for violence during
international matches.
